Travel Bucket List – Countries

Since becoming an adult I’ve been very fortunate to be able to travel the world with my best friends, who just so happen to share the same love for travelling that I do. We’ve been to some incredible places, and I’ve made memories that will last me a lifetime.
Growing up I had always dreamed of travelling to Japan. I had fallen in love with their culture at a very young age and wanted to experience it for myself. So I spent months saving up, and at the end of September in 2018 me and two of my best friends set off to the other side of the globe. It was a birthday trip for the three of us (we’re lucky because our birthdays are very close together) and I got to spend my 22nd birthday in Kyoto exploring the Arashiyama Bamboo Grove and meeting all the cheeky little monkeys at the monkey forest. Its safe to say it was a birthday to remember.
Japan had always been at the very top of my list of places I wanted to visit, and since crossing it off my bucket list I’m pretty much up for exploring anywhere and everywhere. But I’ve managed to come up with a few countries I’d love to visit in the next few years!

I’ve already had a little taste of Asia in the past couple of years, but I’m nowhere near satisfied and there’s many more parts of the continent I’m itching to explore. Thailand has to be at the top of that list, if not for the beautiful temples or breathtaking beaches then for the vibrant culture. There’s nothing I love more than immersing myself in a different culture, trying new foods and experiencing a different way of life.

Over the years I’ve come to realise things I like and dislike about travelling, and one thing I don’t like is cold weather. I’m not really a fan of snow on a good day, I just find it a huge inconvenience and most times when it snows here in England which is not very often thank god it stops me from doing things I want to do. Also, as someone who enjoys spending a lot of time outside, I really don’t feel like I can enjoy myself exploring a new place when I’m freezing my ass off because I’ll jump at any chance to get indoors and get warm. Putting all of this aside, I would definitely make an exception for Iceland, it looks like a gorgeous country and I wouldn’t pass up the chance to see the Northern Lights, especially since nobody really knows how much longer we have to appreciate this natural phenomenon.

I definitely want to start doing more road trips, and I cant think of anywhere I’d want to do a road trip more than Italy right now. I can picture it already, cruising along the Amalfi Coast, blasting the tunes without a care in the world. I just want to have the freedom to explore some of Italy’s gorgeous, historical cities at my own pace and really appreciate everything it has to offer.

Another place I’m itching to do a road trip through is America. It blows my mind that you can be driving for hours and hours and still be in the same state. I really want to get my hands on a camper van and live on the road for a couple of months, travelling to new cities and landmarks as I please, but also to be able to stop in the middle of nowhere and have a few days off the grid.

When I was younger I used to have a literal obsession with Tomb Raider. I would watch the films religiously, play the games on my console and even pretend to be Lara Croft in the woods behind my house. So naturally when I found out where the ‘Tomb Raider temples’ were, I wanted to go to live out my fantasy of being a badass archaeologist exploring dangerous tombs and uncovering ancient artifacts. There is some incredible architecture at these temples, and I cant wait to have a wander around and take it all in.

Well there you have it, some of the places I’ve been longing to visit, and if all goes to plan I’ll be able to cross them off my bucket list in the next few years. Let me know down below where you’d like to travel to most!
